In section 1 we discuss the EV financing landscape in India a bring together secondary literature to provide credible estimates of the size of the market in the coming years. In section 2 we dissect the policy and regulatory apparatus that governs the state of EVs and their growth in India. We identify frameworks that provide or have the potential to provide support to the growing industry. We also identify policy gaps and how they may be overcome by business owners in the short run.
In section 3 we discuss the economics of electrification and then dive into the feasibility of carbon markets as a pathway to finance project activities for the development of OEMs and charging infrastructure in India. To understand the viability of carbon as a financing pathway, our analysis explores the cost, revenue, and effort required to build an EV carbon project in section 4. We also analyse existing projects in the space to extrapolate projections for India/South Asia-based EV projects and their potential in the carbon markets.
